Pillsbury Artisan Pizza Crust- a quick & easy dinner solution!
Some time ago General Mills & Pillsbury through My Blog Spark contacted me about trying out the new Pillsbury Artisan Pizza Crust with whole grain. They sent me this great gift pack with a coupon for the pizza crust, Farberware pizza pan, food chopper with storage containers & silicon-grip oven mitt. I bought the crust thinking it would make a great dinner one night.
Then my life went into chaos mode. We left in a whirlwind to Utah for my grandpas funeral and then my brothers wedding without making the pizza. We got home last Sunday night and while my husband did a great job keeping up the house, he also did a great job emptying the fridge. I had run to the store to grab milk, and a little bit of produce, but had not done any major shopping. I had NO idea what I was going to make for dinner last Monday night- I was so grateful to have that pizza crust in the fridge!
I was able to pull out what I had in the freezer and a few veggies to make a bit of an odd, but delicious pizza! I did try to use the food chopper they sent to me, but it didn’t work the way I thought it should (and there is a good chance I was using it wrong). I got frustrated with it and ended up just chopping everything by hand- old habits die hard sometimes. But the little storage containers are great! I’ve used them for multiple things already!
My husband who avoids whole grains actually loved the crust. I made it in a rectangular pan because quite honestly I forgot about the awesome Farberware pan that was sent to me (but I have used it since and love it).
While I was making the pizza my kids helped me make the world’s easiest breadsticks. Our entire dinner- pizza, breadsticks & salad were ready in about 30-minutes tops! And as much as I love homemade pizza crust, some nights I just need something quick & easy and this was a perfect solution!
Pillsbury and My Blog Spark also gave me another prize pack which I gave to a busy mom that I know can use a quick and easy dinner sometimes!

Vivienne Caudle! She said this about the bracelet and why she is a great mom:

I know that is selfish but all my jewelry has been ruined by my loving kids. Lol. I would like to get something nice like this bracelet to wear to church or on date nights with my hubby. I think I’m a great mom because I teach my kids by example. I teach them to eat healthy by eating healthy. I teach them to take care of their bodies by exercising and I teach them the gospel by reading the scriptures to them. Happy Mothers Day to you and all the other mothers out there.”
Congratulations Vivienne! Can’t wait to hear how you like it! Check your email for details and I’ll get it sent to you ASAP.

Look what I got in the mail while I was gone – I am beyond excited! This is the Birthstone Bracelet from Pearls by Laurel. Mine has birthstones for myself, my husband & our 3 kids. Notice any patterns? All 5 of us cram our birthdays into the same 2 months and the funny part is that they were all “surprises”! But it makes for a beautiful pattern on my bracelet!
We also ordered one for my mom which we shipped straight to her house in California and one for my mother-in-law. For my mother-in-law we did birthstones of all the grandkids, since she already has a ring with birthstones for her kids. And she LOVES being a grandma! We are pretty excited to give it to her on Sunday.
To get one of these gorgeous bracelets by Mother’s Day you will need to place your order by May 9th (but I recommend sooner than later)! You can design your bracelet with up to 6 birthstone pearls for just $29.95 (additional pearls up to are $4 each). The pearls are genuine Swarovski Pearls and have a lifetime guarantee. And if at any time in the future you need to add pearls- you can send it back and add additional pearls for just $4 each as well!

Big G Cereals & Hasbro Games has teamed up with Target to go “retro”, bringing back some of the of the classics cereal & game packaging you may remember from your childhood!
MyBlogSpark sent my family some retro-themed Cheerios & Lucky Charms (which happen to be 2 of my kids favorite cereals), Parcheesi (a board game I remember playing as a kid) and a $10 Target gift card for us to enjoy.
It was no question whether or not my kids would love the cereal- they did. Both boxes were quite promptly devoured. On the back of each box there is a coupon for $5 off one of the vintage board games (available at Target) – Clue® Vintage, Scrabble® Vintage, Parcheesi® Vintage or Risk® Vintage.
I’m kind of a board game junkie, so I was super excited to get a board game in the prize pack. My kids & I had a great time playing Parcheesi- I loved bringing back a game I enjoyed from my childhood to teach my kids- and they enjoyed playing it! Plus it comes in this really cool box. We are looking forward to picking up a couple more of these great vintage-style games for our family to enjoy.
Here’s where this gets even better – MyBlogSpark wants to send one of YOU this same fabulous prize package!

Read MoreConfessions of a Cheapskate: Pets (leave your tip & win a $5 Amazon gift card)
I like to save money. It was one of the biggest reasons I started clipping coupons. But even before I used coupons, I always tried to find the best deal and live frugally. My husband lovingly laughs at me constantly and jokes about me being a “cheapskate” when I make sure to get the LAST little bit of of the toothpaste, but hey- that’s saving us money!
So, I figured I would share with you each week my own little confession of a cheapskate – a random little thing that I do in our lives to save money. I’ll do these in categories so that people will get ideas on how to save for that particular part of their lives. Many of you may do the exact same things I do and probably even have other great ideas on how to make things stretch even further! But the hope is that from my tip or others comments, you’ll be inspired to do something that you’ve never done before to help you save even more.
AND- to make it even more fun, I’ll choose from one of the ideas left in a comment and give out a $5.00 Amazon gift card to the winner!
Cheapskate Tip Topic of the Week: Pets
Pets cost a lot of money to have. Between food, grooming, vet visits and just general care- they can be expensive! We have 3 dogs and 2 cats in our house – all different breeds and sizes. So if we aren’t careful our pet costs can add up quickly. We do lots of things to save money with our animals and still keep them healthy & happy, but I’ll only be sharing one with you (the rest I would love to see in the comments)!
We have one indoor cat (Mittens) and one indoor/outdoor cat (Runt). For our indoor cat we prefer to use a clumping litter- it’s easier to clean out and smells much better. But it is SO much more expensive than clay litter. So we mix it. We put half clay & half clumping. We haven’t had any trouble with clumping or smell and we aren’t going through it nearly as fast which means we are saving money!
Your Turn: Share with me your best tip on saving money when it comes to the furry creatures in your homes! I’ll take comments through Friday, January 25th 11:59pm and will pick a winner next Saturday who will then be getting a $5.00 Amazon gift card!

Read MoreTODAY ONLY: Pillsbury Artisan Pizza Pack Giveaway!
I recently had the chance to review the new Pillsbury Artisan Pizza Crust with Whole Grain courtesy of My Blog Spark. They sent me a really fun pack with a coupon for the Pillsbury Artisan Pizza dough, a pizza pan, oven mitt, pizza cutter and pre-paid $10 Visa card to buy ingredients.
My family is a big fan of pizza, but we don’t often make our own, which we should because it’s fun, easy, yummy & costs a lot less. But it’s the dough that I don’t usually want to take the time to make. Using this pre-made Pillsbury dough made it SO easy!
To be honest, I wasn’t entirely sure how my family would like this. My husband is NOT a fan of many “whole grain” items so I figured if anyone would be picky about this it would be him. We kept it pretty simple with our pizza – sauce, 3 types of cheese, sage sausage & onions. Yes- there is a corner with just cheese. My 5-year old doesn’t like pizza, but will manage to choke down plain cheese pizza and I have one daughter who doesn’t like onions, so we made a corner with just cheese & sausage. That is the bonus to make your own pizza- easy to customize!
The whole thing was really easy to put together. I opted to pre-bake my dough and we added a little garlic salt to it when we pre-baked it. I’m wishing I would have stretched it a little thinner as it shrunk up a bit when it cooked. I think it took me less than 30 minutes to make & bake the whole thing!
The verdict by my family: they loved it – not a piece left! Even my husband (who mostly refuses to eat whole grains) said it was delicious! Definitely something I’m willing to do again!
My Blog Spark & Pillsbury wants to share a pizza prize pack with one of you! It will also include a coupon for free pizza dough, pizza pan, pizza cutter, oven mitt & $10 pre-paid Visa to buy ingredients!
And if you don’t want to wait and see if you win the prize pack here’s a great high-value printable coupon for $1.25 off your purchase of Pillsbury Artisan Pizza Crust!
